Heidi Stuart Vahue, organizer of the Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials joined Katrina Irwin on News 8 at Noon Tuesday. She talked about the triathlon on equestrian events.

From July 12-15, horses and riders from all over the country and beyond will be coming to Victor to test their skills. This public event-with roots in ancient preparation for war-tests the physical and mental training of rider and horse in three diverse and demanding disciplines: dressage, cross-country and show jumping, collectively known as eventing. Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials functions as an important step in the continuing and competitive training for a spot at such venues as the Olympics and World Equestrian Games. Since the SHT began in 1990, more than a dozen of its competitors have gone on to the Olympics.

Various events take place on different days, depending on division:

Thursday, July 12: Dressage and Cross-Country (8:00 am-4:00 pm)

Friday, July 13: Dressage and Show Jumping (8:00 am-4:00 pm)

Saturday, July 14: Cross-Country (8:00 am-4:00 pm)

Sunday, July 15: Show Jumping (8:00 am-3:00 pm)
