Running Icon Frank Shorter Headlines 13th Airport 5K

The weather could not have been better for the 13th annual Airport 5k at the Greater Rochester International Airport. The event benefits Lifetime Assistance programs and services for those with developmental disabilities. 1972 Olympic marathon gold medal winner Frank Shorter headlined the event which featured over 500 participants. Shorter is seen as the father of modern running and has a family background that includes developmental disabilities.

Patrick Geoghegan of Syracuse won the race on the men's side at 15:04. Christa Meyer of Fairport won the overall women at 17:11. Frank Shorter finished at an even 27:30.
