Deduno made his seventh start of the season for Rochester. On the mound for Charlotte was LHP Charlie Leesman, who was 7-4 going into tonight's game.
The Wings got off to a hot start in the first inning. Base hits from Pedro Florimon and Danny Valencia set up an RBI single from Sean Burroughs to give Rochester a quick 1-0 lead.
Deduno took a no-hitter into the fourth inning, ended by a Conor Jackson single with two outs. Deduno remained unfazed however, as he went on to finish the night with six innings pitched, eight strikeouts, and only allowed the one hit before being replaced by Kyle Waldrop.
Leesman was equally strong for the Knights, with nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
The Wings had several scoring opportunities during the game, and had left eight men on base through six innings. But in the seventh against reliever Donnie Veal, Rochester got back on the scoreboard. Florimon led off with a walk, and hustled around to third base on a one-out single from Valencia. After a pop out, Michael Hollimon pushed a single through the right side of the infield, plating Florimon and making the score 2-0 Wings.
Nishioka's eighth inning single drove in the third Rochester run.
Waldrop pitched the seventh and eighth for Rochester, working out of a two-out jam in the seventh and then getting three quick outs in the eighth.
Tyler Robertson worked the ninth for the Red Wings, striking out two but allowing a double and walk. Casey Fien relieved Robertson, and Fien got a quick ground out to end the game.
