We're learning more about a deadly shooting outside a popular bar on Monroe Avenue.
Deavoughn Hernandez-Ruffin was shot and killed after a fight broke out during a rap concert at The Bug Jar.
    Tonight, the bar is closed.
The owners of The Bug Jar have decided to voluntarily shut down until Friday.
That's when they will sit down with members of the Police Department's Neighborhood Service Center and the City Attorney to discuss the bar's long term future.
As we first told you Monday on News 8, the city now has the right to shut down the bar.
The bar has had 3 violations since March.
Each violation has a set of points attached to it, and now, the bar has accrued enough points for the city to close it.
This preemptive step by the bar's owners shows that they are willing to try and put an end to the problem once and for all, according to Rochester Police Chief Jim Sheppard. He said "We always take the opportunity to talk with business owners to one, articulate what our concerns are and for them to express how they plan to change the way they do business, so that they we don't have these types of incidents...We have nothing against The Bug Jar or its management. It's just when you have certain types of incidents, we can't tolerate it and we won't tolerate it."
That meeting is Friday at 10 am at Rochester City Hall.
The search for the suspect in the deadly shooting continues.

OK, first, can anyone show me where I can find this "points system" The Bug Jar has violated, I'd love to read it for myself. Rochester Police Chief Jim Sheppard: "We always take the opportunity to talk with business owners to one, articulate what our concerns are and for them to express how they plan to change the way they do business, so that they we don't have these types of incidents." -You wouldn't have these types of incidents if you had half the number of patrols down on Monroe that you have around the East End bars every weekend. "We have nothing against The Bug Jar or its management. It's just when you have certain types of incidents, we can't tolerate it and we won't tolerate it." -What types of incidents? The shooting happened on YOUR public sidewalk, not inside the bar. Do your job and stop threatening to shut down privately owned businesses based on some mysterious points system you set up so you don't have to bother patrolling them.
