The New York State Senate has passed a bill to protect health care benefits for Kodak retirees.

The legislation was sponsored by Senator Joe Robach. It proposes the creation of a health insurance demonstration program to provide the retirees with group health insurance. Kodak was considering cutting retiree benefits after declaring bankruptcy at the beginning of the year. The issue has since been tabled.

The bill is now going to the Assembly. Assemblyman Joe Morelle has introduced a companion bill to go along with it.
