Andy Pettitte was surprised by the 13,584 that came to see him pitch at Frontier Field on Sunday afternoon. The crowd was the second largest for baseball at the stadium, second only to Cal Ripken, Jr.'s visit during an Orioles exhibition against the Red Wings.

In fact, he thought the game was going to be played in Batavia, where it was originally scheduled. Only when he began his trip to Frontier Field did he realize the game was in Rochester.

Pettitte wished he had pitched better in front of all the fans. He allowed five runs in five innings, though only three were earned. Pettitte gave up eight hits and two walks, while striking out five.
