From illuminated coat racks to centerpieces and windchimes, all of these projects are made of recycled glass.
These students have been working on what's called Metaproject 2. They visited the Corning Museum of Glass and learned some tips from the experts.
"By taking the glass, re-heating it, making it do something it wasn't designed to do is a great technical challenge. but it comes off with great feats in the end," said Celia Garland, RIT student.
The students have been working on these projects for several months and next month they'll get to show them off to the rest of the world in ny city where they will be on display as part of a design expo.
"The recycleability part could be interpreted anything from taking crushed glass and re-forming it into something new or re-using it a structure that has already been created in glass," said Rob Guglielmo, RIT student.
They used creativity and knowledge to mold the glass and the environment ends up benefiting from it in the long run.
"The students were able to make projects that at the end of the day had this kind of beauty and timelessness which gives them this reason to be and not have to make way to landfill," said Josh Owen, RIT Associate Professor of Industrial Design.
