Bills Sign Stevie Johnson

Updated: March 5, 2012
The Bills have announced they signed Stevie Johnson to a five year contract extension Monday, thus avoiding the need to place the franchise tag on their star wide receiver.

Johnson, Bills GM Buddy Nix and Bills CEO Russ Brandon all participated in a 10am press conference to announce the signing.

"I want to thank the city of Buffalo, because I represent you guys." Johnson said. "This is where I want to be. Everybody knows that."

Buddy Nix added, "It's a good day for us. Our football team got better. One of our main goals is to keep guys like him."

Johnson confirmed the deal earlier this morning by tweeting, "Done deal. Lets GOOOOOOO BUFFALO!!!!". He also thanked Ralph Wilson and included this picture of, presumably, signing his new contract.

Adam Schefter is reporting the money is as follows: a $36.25 million deal that includes $19.5 million guaranteed and over $24 million in deal's first three years.

The Bills and their fans are celebrating. Ryan Fitzpatrick even shaved a "he's back" into the side of his now mohawk-emblazoned head. You can see that here, too, courtesy Stevie's twitter page.
