Nate responds that he and his design firm have used concrete counter tops over the years in projects, and that he is a fan of using natural stone instead.
Nate notes that even though natural stone is porous, and that you have to seal it and be careful of exposure to acidity (red wine, citrus, etc.) Nate explains that concrete is more difficult to take care of - due to having to reseal it more frequently that natural stone, and due to its propensity to crack easily.
Nate suggests that Sharon install slate counter tops, or honed granite (which has a similar look) to save her the time in dealing with potential mistakes that might occur with concrete.
