Cough and cold season is here and one local mother think's she's found an all-natural remedy.
Carolyn Harrington is a mom on a mission.  When her young daughter had heart trouble fifteen years ago, she sprung into action.

"There were side effects that came about because of the surgeries.  She was losing her hair, alopecia,  she had psoriasis all over. The doctors didn't have a lot of alternatives, or a lot of therapies they could do for that," says Harrington.

So, she began searching the internet for alternatives.   "As a mother, I kicked into gear and started researching natural ways of getting healthy, getting her healthy and keeping her that way," she says.

What she found turned into a line of all-natural products named "Maty's Healthy Products" after her daughter.

"They're really just ingredients you can find in your kitchen.  We're not homeopathic, not a drug, anyone can pretty much make any of these in your kitchen,  kind of like having a cookie recipe," says harrington.

Over the years she experimented, making sure the products were packed with antioxidants.

"It starts with buckwheat honey.  That is the most rich in antioxidant honey that's produced in the U.S."

Cayenne pepper and celtic sea salt can also help shake a cold.   The product was launched at a natural product expo in 2009 and then things really started taking off.  Harrington says, "we went to Wegmans first with the concept and talked to a buyer there.  He said once you have the product, why don't you come back to us and we did and that was our first real customer."

The products are now available at Wegmans and in several other large chains.  It's produced at a plant in Pennsylvania that is regulated by the FDA.
