Ever think about getting a more environmentally friendly car? There's now a class for that.

Inside MCC's Applied Technologies Center, there are lots of things to learn about hybrid and alternative fuel cars. Now they are offering a class, for anyone who wants to learn more.

"The class is designed for the general public. It includes non-matriculated students and gives an introduction to hybrid technology," says Douglas Rivers, Assistant Professor at the MCC Applied Technologies Center.

It's called introduction to automotive hybrid technology. But this isn't just for people who want to work on cars. It's a class meant for people who want to own and drive hybrids. "We want to make sure they have a resource, so they can actually be more aware of what vehicles are out there and what is in their best interest to purchase," says Rivers.

The class will explain how the cars work, how to fix them, how to perform routine maintenance, and many other things. "We want to make sure that consumers are aware of the use of the vehicle as well," says Rivers. He says there are a lot of different hybrid options now. It can be overwhelming for some buyers. He hopes to simplify the choices with this class.

"When they go to the dealer they'll be more aware of what the technology is and understand am I getting a good value here?", Rivers adds.

The class is going to be held Thursday nights and the new semester starts January 23rd.
