Christmas Miracle Saves Scott's Photo

There were tears of joy and hugs at Scott's Photo when employees received the news. "I've got a small child at home, and a wife and family to support so it's a huge relief," said Scott's Photo Manager Jim Brennan.
Brennan has worked at Scott's Photo from the beginning, almost 26 years now. He never wanted to believe it would end. "I've been telling people the last couple of weeks as we're saying goodbye, I said you know, don't give up, there might be a knight in shining armor that comes through the door and saves us, and he did," said Brennan.
That knight in shining armor turned out to be a competitor from within the industry. Rowe agreed to buy the business from founder Scott Sims, who is retiring. "I just couldn't see this disappearing," he said. "They're known for the quality of their photo finishing. There's great guys that run this."
Three full time employees and one part timer will keep their jobs. Scott's will retain its name, offer the same services, and operate independently of Rowe, which has been a Rochester fixture since 1898. "It's a perfect fit for Rowe and I'm excited about it, I think it's going to go well," said Rowe.
Debra Lindsey is among the loyal customer who agree. She has trusted Scott's with her family photos for 20 years. "We were all sad about knowing that Scott's was going to be closing," she said. "We're just overjoyed."
Brennan said Scott's has always prided itself on developing lasting relationships with its customers, and taking great care in the process of creating people's memories. After weeks of saying goodbye to hundreds of customers, he's now saying welcome once again. "People are coming in and they're like, oh, I'm so sorry to see you go, and it's like wait, we're not, we've been saved," said Brennan with a smile.
Scott's Photo was slated to close on December 30. Instead, it will now make a seamless transition into the new year under new ownership. The popular business will now be called Scott's Photo by Rowe.
