From solar power, to energy efficient light bulbs, there are lots of ways for homeowners to go green.

Shawn Lessord is opening up a new business called Renewable Rochester. The goal is to help showcase new, "green" technology.

"They can walk in an actually see different products that are available for the consumer that can save them energy save them money and help the environment," Lessord says.

He has been in the renewable energy business for years- and he saw a need for more education. "When I started out doing this 7-8 years ago there was just a small demand, a few inquiries a year, and now it has just grown and grown. Now I at least get one a day where people come in and are very interested about how they can save money how they can reduce and re-use everything in house and get more efficient at that."

Lessord thinks this will be the first center of its kind in the area. Once people learn about the latest technology, they'll be able to buy the equipment that can put it into action.

"We're actually going to have an roc supply center right next door where people can come in and purchase products they see in the education center," he says.

The education center is located along Ridge Road in Webster. The grand opening is July 18-22
