#5 - Gabrielle Giffords

The Congresswoman marked her 41st birthday earlier this week.  Staffers are now saying she may not be able to run for re-election.  Her chief of staff says the Congresswoman can use hand gestures and facial expressions to communicate but still has trouble forming sentences.  It's been 5 months since she was shot in the head in that Tucson shooting spree.

#4 - Hudson Plane

The "Miracle on the Hudson" plane is headed to its new home Friday in Charlotte.  It was more than 2 years ago Captain Sully Sullenberger safely landing the plane on the Hudson River after hitting a flock of birds.  The plane will go on display at an aviation museum in Charlotte.

#3 - Newt Gingrich

Thursday, there was a mass exodus from his campaign.  Basically, Gingrich's entire staff quit after a number of stumbles by the candidate.  Gingrich came under fire for criticizing his own party's Medicare plan.  He also ran up a $500,000 bill at Tiffany's.  Gingrich just returned from a vacation in the Greek Isles as well which turned off a lot of supporters.  Gingrich says he'll reboot his campaign this weekend in L.A.

#2 - Sarah Palin

Tens of thousands of emails from Sarah Palin will be released Friday.  The emails are those that Palin sent when she was Governor of Alaska.  Journalists had pressed for the release of the documents under the Freedom of Information Act when Palin was running for Vice President.

#1 - Face Transplant

A Connecticut woman who was attacked by a friend's pet chimpanzee underwent a full face transplant.  Charla Nash was severely disfigured in the attack in 2009.  Nash has been unable to eat or breathe normally since that attack.  Her brother Steve spoke Friday about the outcome of her surgery.  "Outstanding.  It was amazing to see.  It's like perfect.  The functioning of the face is going to add to her quality of life."  Doctors also tried hand transplants but they failed to work and were removed.  They say they could try that operation again in the future.
