ROCHESTER, NY - Spray parks in the City of Rochester were bustling Wednesday as near record high heat forced many people to find a way to cool down.
Seven out of the eight parks in the city are open now from 10 am to 8 pm. The Spray park at the Carter Street Recreation Center is currently closed for repairs.
The City usually doesn't turn on the water to the spray parks until the first day of summer , but this year they opened them right before Memorial Day. The Director of Aquatics and Athletics John Picone said they changed the practice so people could enjoy the parks as soon as it started to get really hot.
On Wednesday, hundreds of children and adults of all ages flocked to the spray parks. The City expects thousands to visit by the end of the summer.
There was a brief disturbance at the Edgerton spray park after 5 pm. The water was turned off for about 30 minutes after a large group of teens and young adults started fighting.
The spray parks will be open until Labor Day. Click here, to see a complete list of parks and addresses.
