#5 - Gmail Hacked
Google is blaming a hacker from China for tapping into hundreds of personal Gmail accounts across the globe. Some U.S. government officials even fell victim to the hacking. Google has notified the victims. The company is urging users to beef up their online security.
#4 - Mitt Romney
The Republican officially announced he's in the 2012 Presidential race Thursday. He made the announcement in New Hampshire. Romney is focusing on the economy and blaming President Obama for it. A recent poll shows Romney leading among Republican contenders.
#3 - Lady Gaga
The star was supposed to deliver an anti-bullying message via Skype to students at a New Jersey school but had to cancel last minute. So a school staffer hired an impersonator instead. A young Gaga fan was not fooled though and alerted school officials. The school sent out a letter apologizing for the hoax.
#2 - Shaq Retiring
The NBA star announced his retirement via Twitter Wednesday. He posted "I'm retiring" to his nearly 4,000,000 followers. Shaq played 19 seasons and scored more than 28,000 points during his career.
#1 - Anthony Weiner/Weinergate
The Congressman from New York said earlier this week that his Twitter account had been hacked. The claim came after a suggestive photo of a man in gray underwear was sent to one of his followers. Now Weiner says he can't say with certainty that the photo isn't him! Weiner sat down with CBS' Nancy Cordes for a one-on-one interview. Here's an excerpt:
Cordes: "So it sounds like it was a photo of you."
Weiner: "Well we're going to try to find out exactly what happened. // The photograph does not look familiar to me but before I say anything I want to make sure THAT nothing was manipulated about it, that something wasn't dropped into my account."
Cordes: "I think any normal person could say with certainty whether it was a picture of them or not. Whether they had taken a photo like that."
Weiner: "Well you know Jon Stewart might have had it right last night. That the picture didn't look like me for embarrassing reasons."
The Congressman has not asked Capitol police or the FBI to look into the hacking. He calls it mischief and says he's treating it that way.
