#5 - Pope to Phone Space - The Pope will make a special call to the International Space Station during the upcoming flight of the space shuttle Endeavour. It will be the first papal call to space. Discussions are now underway to try to arrange for Pope Benedict the 16th to speak to 2 Italian astronauts on board the space station.
#4 - Delta Droppings! - Flyers beware! The FDA says "rodent" droppings have been found on a Delta Airlines plane. Inspectors found the droppings "too numerous to count" near food prep and storage areas on an aircraft earlier this year. Droppings were found in ceiling panels, directly over places where food and drinks are stored. Delta pulled the plane out of service and cleaned it within days. It claims this is an isolated incident.
#3 - Teen Fakes Pregnancy - A 17 year old from Washington State faked being pregnant for six and a half months as a social experiment for one of her classes. Only a handful of people knew Gaby Rodriguez wasn't actually pregnant including her mother, boyfriend, and principal. Gaby explored how her classmates' attitudes toward her changed over time. She took off her fake baby in front of the entire student body revealing she wasn't really pregnant. Many were shocked but by the end of her presentation, her classmates gave her a standing ovation. Gaby plans to study sociology this fall at college.
#2 - Lady Liberty Stalker - Tax season has one man all hot and bothered. Police arrested Kevin Theriault for stalking a woman dressed as the Statue of Liberty. She was advertising for a tax agency in Tempe, Arizona. Police say the man flashed her several times over a period of a few weeks. They set up a surveillance camera and caught the man in the act one day. He's been charged with being a total creep!
#1 - Mel Gibson - The actor is speaking out for the first time after those heated phone calls were leaked last year. The audio recordings caught Mel Gibson screaming at his former girlfriend. The actor gets in a vicious argument with her. Part of that conversation: "How dare you act like such a b**** when I've been so f***ing nice! You're a pain in the a**! You're a pain in my a**! Stop being that!" Gibson is now responding to his perceived rascism and misogyny in an interview with Deadline.com. "I've never treated anyone badly or in a discriminatory way based on their gender, race, religion or sexuality - period. I don't blame some people for thinking that though, from the garbage they heard on those leaked tapes, which have been edited...You have to put it all in the proper context of being in an irrationally, heated discussion at the height of a breakdown, trying to get out of a really unhealthy relationship."
