Remember this name: Sebastian Erakare! He's a young singer-songwriter from Albion, and he's got his sights set on a career in the music industry. Sebastian is in this week's Scholastic Arts Spotlight.

Sebastian Erakare is a musical staple at Albion High School. But you'll also see him perform at small venues around the region. This singer songwriter wants to be a recording artist.

"My dream is to play stadiums and tour and play music, because I feel like that's what I should be doing."

The first time Sebastian played a show of his own, was at his mother's coffee shop in Albion. That was four years ago.  Now, he plays gigs all over.

"I work on songs like some people work on construction projects, you work on it until you like how it looks.  That's what I do with my music.  I work on it until I like how it sounds."

Albion High School Band Director Mike Thaine says, “His life is his music and he's good at it.  He doesn't just have a desire and interest, he's also got the skills."

Sebastian plays string bass in the symphonic band, and guitar in the jazz ensemble. He was selected to sing in the all-state chorus. He'll study guitar and voice in college----and after that----it all depends on where the music takes him.
