The Rochester Americans traveled down 490, hoping to change their recent fortunes in tonight’s battle with the Syracuse Crunch.  After losing three-straight games, the Amerks were defeated by the Crunch 3-2 to extend their losing streak to four games.  With the defeat, Rochester falls to 29-31-3-3 (64 points), while Syracuse improves to 24-33-3-4 (55 points).

Pat Rissmiller and Hugh Jessiman, who both scored a goal in the effort, led Rochester offensively, while Marc Cheverie made 34 stops between the pipes for the Amerks.

Brian McGrattan scored two goals for Syracuse and Jean-Philippe Levasseur denied 35 shots for the win.

The Crunch opened the game quickly, as McGrattan scored just 28 seconds into the contest to give Syracuse a 1-0 advantage.

However, Rissmiller capitalized off of feeds from Chris Taylor and Mike Kostka to even the game midway through the first period.

Just two minutes later, Syracuse gained the one-goal advantage off of another goal by McGrattan, this time assisted by Pat Maroon and Nick Bonino.  Bonino also had the lone assist on McGrattan’s first tally.

In the second, Rochester responded yet again when Jessiman scored at the 11:49 mark to tie the game at 2-2.  Jessiman was assisted by Colby Robak and Kenndal McArdle.  The two teams entered the third period tied at two goals each.

After nearly 12 minutes of tied play in the third, Maxime Macenauer scored what proved to be the game winner for his seventh of the season.  Maroon picked up his second assist of the night on the goal, while Mark Mitera was credited also.

The Amerks conclude their three-games in three-night stretch on Sunday as they travel to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
