Thad Brown and Cory Hepola have a simple answer--the Amerks will be gone from Rochester, with the Knighthawks preceeding them. Despite the best efforts from owner Curt Styres and president Lewis Staats, there may be too many obstacles keeping these teams from becoming profitable soon.

2) Nobody tried harder than the Amerks to "spend money" and bring in players. Chris Tayler, Graham Mink, Mike York and so on...
3) When the Sabres were with Rochester and had losing teams, their attendance was significantly higher than it was when Rochester made the playoffs last season. Yet you say bringing Buffalo back wouldn't help.
4) Hershey and Chicago probably have no more flexibility with the roster than Rochester if not less. Many NHL teams don't allow their affiliates to have any control over the roster. Kevin O. at the D n C reported this recently.
