The ABVI-Goodwill has come up with a term that best describes some of their inventory.  "upcycled"
"It's not recycled anymore because it's good, someone else can use it and benefit from it," says Roxanne Garrison.  She is in retail administration for ABVI-Goodwill.

People bring their unwanted items to drop off points around the area.  The items are then sorted and sold in the 9 retail stores in the Greater Rochester area.

"We just have a lot of things that are really unique to people. they come in and it's always great to see that person's face when they see something they didn't expect to find," Garrison adds.

The money raised goes to help out the blind and visually impaired.  So it's not just a benefit for the environment.  It also helps out the local community.

"Our donors donate knowing that they are going to be helping people in the community for the blind and visually impaired," Garrison adds.

ABVI-Goodwill estimates that 4 million pounds of trash is saved from the landfill every year when it is brought to their stores.

Garrison says, "we get a lot of unique pieces in terms of things that have been created just recently or years ago."  V
inyl is one of the biggest things we've got going right now and we've got some awesome things that have come in."

This week all of the green tagged items at ABVI-Goodwill are half off.  For more information click here
