Scott Pitoniak's Report Card: Bills vs. Chiefs

SCOTT’S REPORT CARD

COACHING: Give them credit for shoring up the defense and making offensive adjustments in the second half. They continue to play hard, not easy to do when you are winless. Also give Gailey credit for the big challenge following Lee Evans’ fumble that enabled the Bills to maintain possession and score the tying touchdown. Grade: B

OFFENSE: Ryan Fitzpatrick was off target much of the day and is lucky he didn’t have three rather than one interception. O-Line suffered a dropoff after its best game of the season the week before. Ten points just isn’t going to get it done. Grade: C

DEFENSE: After surrendering 34 or more points five straight games, the “D” finally came to play, allowing just one TD and two field goals in 11 possessions. Running back Jamaal Charles burned them for 177 yards rushing and 61 receiving, but Buffalo did a decent job overall.
Grade: B

SPECIAL TEAMS: Brian Moorman had a solid day, averaging 44 yards per punt, and Roscoe Parrish’s spinning punt return put the Bills in position to win the game in regulation. Lindell barely missed the potential game-winner from 53 yards after making one from that distance that was nullified by a Chiefs timeout. Grade: B.

OVERALL: A solid effort on the road against a team more talented. I like their intensity. Hopefully this will pay some dividends down the road when some more skilled players are added to the roster. Grade: B-minus.
