SCOTT’S REPORT CARD - Bills vs. Packers

By: Jerry Walsh
Updated: September 20, 2010

COACHING: I didn’t think the Bills did a very good job of making defensive adjustments in the second half to counter the Packers offense. Commitment to the run made sense in hopes of keeping Rodgers and company off the field. Grade: C-minus

OFFENSE: Ran the ball well at times, but passing game couldn’t get anything going. Protection was lousy, receivers turned the ball over and didn’t get much separation on routes. One touchdown isn’t going to win many games. Grade: D-minus

DEFENSE:  Played poorly the first three series, then settled down in second quarter. Obviously wasn’t up to the task once the offense turned the ball over. Packers tight end Jermichael Finley burned them for 103 yards on four receptions. Two games without a takeaway isn’t good. Grade: D-plus

SPECIAL TEAMS: Brian Moorman was solid as always, averaging 46.4-yards on five punts and pinning one inside the 20. The kickoff return unit gave the Bills good field position as C.J. Spiller averaged 29.4-yards on six returns. Grade: B

OVERALL: Offense continues to sputter and defense took a few steps back. Bills were competitive until second-half turnovers. It doesn’t get any easier next week with a road game against a healthy Tom Brady and Wes Welker in New England. Talk about going from the frying pan to the fire. Can you say 0-3? Grade: D-minus
