Rhino 1 v. 1-Tyler Bellamy

Tyler Bellamy went to St. Bonaventure a forward, but in spring ball, after a lackluster freshamn year, Bellamy was pressed into servive on the back line.

"That was my best game of the whole tournament," Bellamy said. "Coach was like, maybe we'll try you at defense and the next game I played there and it kind of stuck with me from there."

After the switch, Bellamy was a three-year starter in college and again this year as a rookie pro.

"The thing was I embraced it, instead of saying I'm not a defender, I want to be on the field," Bellamy said. "If this is where I was going to be, I took it to the bes tof my ability."

The Bonnies are often a scrimmage partner for the Rhinos and this year for the first time, Bellamy was on the other side.

"The day before the game I was texting them all, we're calling each other and they were like, I'll take you down and I was like yeah, we'll see," Bellamy said. "I believe we won 3-0, we showed we're a pro team, but the guys enjoyed it."

It takes about five seconds to figure out that Bellamy is the nicest guy on the team, and that's saying something because this team is full of good guys, but the rookie is quickly learning there's a time for niceness and in the pro's, that time is not game time.

"Guys will run right through you ands then turn around and help you up," Bellamy said. "There's no niceness on the field. It's a job, that's whay I get used to. If you want to stay, you've got to get the job done or you're not gonna be here long."

That's less of a worry for Bellamy the defender, than it would have been for Bellamy the forward.
