"Once they experience a children's class, one that's oriented specifically to children, it is eye opening," said Jennifer.
She uses elements from the classes she teaches to adults, to help kids become more aware of their bodies.
"They can use their energy if they need to get control for a test, or for waking up in the morning. They can settle themselves in tense situations, and that really alters many situations that they'll come across in life," said Jennifer.
Yoga isn't Jennifer's only passion. She also started a non-competive runner's club at her children's school, where students can test their endurance around a track after lunch.
To help kids during lunch, Hess volunteers at the school's garden, growing food they can eat right in the cafeteria.
She says all of these projects not only improve the lives of the children she works with; they improve her life as well.
"I've become a happier person and I think seeing everyone else's joy and fun and seeing those moments where they accomplish something like balancing which can be tricky for kids, and see that light come in their eyes its very gratifying," said Jennifer.
