People who work with her say this week's News 8 Golden Apple Award winner gives her heart and soul to the children she teaches. We'd like you to meet 6Th Grade Teacher Ester Gliwinski from Rochester School No.33. It's not everyday kids are invited to a tea party, that is unless your teacher is ester Gliwinski at School No.33. Ester celebrates her students everyday.
Rose Marie Urzetta is an administrator at school 33. She nominated Ester because she reaches out to students all over the school. "She gives her heart and soul into everyday of teaching here. you can find her here every night at dismissal time for children that are waiting to be picked up, reading to children, she's just a very special person and i thought it would be wonderful to have this recognition for her."
We got Ester good. She thought we were doing a story on her tea party. But look at all the people who snuck up behind her while we were talking. I told her "I want to tell you the truth. We're crashing your tea party because you are the winner of a News 8 Golden Apple Award. Rose Marie nominated you. Surprise!"
Ester is a 6th Grade Dual Language Teacher. She loves seeing her students learn. "And that is what is so joyful. When somebody else learns it's just this magic thing that makes you happy. And the other thing is the knowledge that it's OK for me to be forgotten but that child won't forget the things they learned."
Ester Gliwinski is a news 8 golden apple award winner. You can read the letter we got from rose marie nominating her below.
Dear Channel 8,
Ester Gliwinski is a 6th grade dual language teacher at John James Audubon School No. 33. Ester gives her heart, soul and all the resources she can muster to provide multiple learning opportunities for children. She always volunteers for school wide projects and has established relationships that go way beyond the classroom and the school.
Ester is a one person public relations person for all of the School No. 33 family. She spends a great deal of her own time at school….even during school vacations! You can always find her in the Main Office after school sitting with children who are waiting for parents to pick them up. She reads to them and keeps them occupied so the wait time doesn't seem so long.
I think it will be great to have Ester recognized for all she does for so many on a daily basis. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to make this happen.
Sincerely,
Rose Marie Urzetta
