P-INDOORAIR2008-03-20-1206044274.jpgWith all the new advancements made to improve building efficiency, we literally made our homes and workplaces "air-tight." When you lock down the windows at the beginning of winter, you are locking in all that air, which in some cases, could remain in your house for months! It is estimated that over 70 percent of homes can cause the people inside to be sick. But you don't have to be part of this statistic... And it won't take much work. “It takes us about twenty minutes to fully install them, all we need is an outlet close by so the cord can reach." Bob graves of Indoor Environmental Air Specialists is referring to a device, manufactured in Medina by a company called Second Wind. It’s a combination of UV lights separated by a titanium plate. They work in unison to combat most of the living organisms floating around your house, like mold or mildew. Graves says, “this light will take care of two thirds of the impurities in air, and a good furnace filter would take care of the last part." They also offer an alternative to typical single room humidifiers. The unit exhausts the air along your basement floor, which is often some of the worst air in the house. Graves stated that “People who say well my husband has asthma but I don't feel affected in the house, once we install these, even the people who had no symptoms prior to the lights going in feel better in their homes." We could call this a "breath of fresh air."
