HSSUTHERLAND2008-03-04-1204673314.jpgTuesday means we rank and read some of the best efforts from the Section Five sports week.  Here's Thad Brown with our high school Great 8.

Number 8, Bret Clark, Hilton. 25 points leading the Cadets to an overtime win in the Class AAA semis.

Number 7, Batavia kept giving Bryan Anderson the ball in their sectional semifinal, and he just kept scoring. 26 points and 10 rebounds leading the Blue Devils to the finals.

Number 6, Justin Scharfe, Webster Thomas. Scored hat tricks in both the state qualifier and quarterfinal, helping the Titans make the New York semis.

Number 5, Dane Miller, Rush-Henrietta. 38 points and the finish of this spectacular play in the sectional semis. Scored 11 more in the finals to earn tourny MVP.

Number 4, Brent Ayers, Dundee. 33 points in the Class C Final, earning the Scotsmen a sectional title and himself a tourny MVP.

Number 3, Sean Michele, East Rochester. 23 points in the Class CC finals and tournament MVP honors, leading the Bombers to their first sectional title in 45 years.

Number 2, Dave Valle scored 24 points in the Class D final, none bigger than this three to break a tie with 37 seconds left and give Northstar a sectional title.

And Number 1, six seconds left, Class A final, Jason Corletta and Pittsford Sutherland down one... Corletta's jumper with a second remaining fulfilled every kid's dream and gave the Knights a sectional championship.
