Starbucks-logo2008-02-26-1204079700.gifStarbucks closed all of its nearly 7100 locations Tuesday night. From 5:30 to 9:00 the stores closed their doors to customers in order to retrain more than 130,000 employees. The company said it wanted to perfect the art of espresso.

Sales have been slipping as McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts step up the competition.

The closings caught many customers by surprise who found the doors locked at their favorite Starbucks. Dunkin' Donuts took advantage of the closings, offering customers small lattes for 99 cents.
