Green cars at auto show

None of the two hundred cars are green colored, but a growing number of them are green. "The alternative fuel vehicles certainly are a very hot topic around town," said Brad McAreavy. Especially now that there are two stations in Rochester that pump ethanol. Inside, at the car show, western New Yorkers will find a wide scope of greenies, from the massive Chevy Tahoe hybrid to the tinier Malibu. To be sure, there are plenty of gas guzzlers here, like Hummers and a Cadillac Escalade, but Brad McAreavy of the Dealers Association says that opportunities to go green are expanding. "We have I believe nine alternative vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, you'll see hybrids, e-85 and those type of vehicles," McAreavy said.
When it comes to green cars, this one takes the cake. It's all electric, it doesn't need any fuel. Of course, there are no seats in it yet. But once there are, you can get all around the city, without gasoline. "It's a battery powered vehicle, it plugs in every night, and the next day you're driving it, it's completely, 100 percent, electric," he said. But you won't be able to buy that car for at least another few years. The good news, is that there's no shortage of wheels here.
