The Rochester Knighthaws fell to the New York Titans 14-11 tonight at the Blue Cross Arena.
The Titans (4-4) used Casey Powells nine points and 9-5 halftime lead to hold onto a critical Eastern Division win.
19 minutes into the contest, Bendan Mundorf and Mike McLellan forced Rochester Head Coach Ed Comeau to pull star goaltender Pat OToole after New York tallied five consecutive goals to make it 7-4.
Peter Maddalena and Mundorf scored 20 seconds apart midway through the second quarter to make it a a five goal advantage.
John Grant scored his first goal in 15 minutes to send it to halftime at 9-5.
McLellan finished the third quarter with a goal to give New York a 12-7 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes.
Rochester (3-4) managed to cut the lead to three goals late as Williams, Grant, Evans and Matt Lyons scored consecutively. But it wouldnt be enough as the Titans held Rochester scoreless for the games last five minutes.
After being pulled in the second quarter, OToole finished the game in the fourth to collect the loss. Matt Vinc collected his third victory of the season while McLellan tallied a hat-trick and three assists.
Grant and Evans had three goals and three assists apiece.
The Knighthawks hit the road for two straight games to begin the month of March. Rochester plays the Chicago Shamrox on Saturday, March 1st at 8:00 p.m.
