Zedrick Wilson scored 23 points and pulled down 20 rebounds leading number eight Franklin to a stunning upset over the top-seeded Red Raiders 60-50 in a Class AAA quarterfinal at Fairport. The Quakers outscored Fairport 25-15 over the second and third quarters to build a nine-point leading heading to the fourth. David Kozar hit a three pointer to pull the Red Raiders within six at 45-39 with just over four minutes to go, but Fairport got no closer. Franklin made 16 of 20 free throws in the fourth quarter to salt away the win. Lamonze Sizer scored eight points and fouled out with three minutes to go, but held Red Raiders leading scorer Kyle Downey to 18 points. Downey had to scratch and claw for all of them. The Quakers will face Hilton in the semifinals after the 5th-seeded Cadets snuck by number four Spencerport 49-47. Brian Duffy led Hilton with 17 points. Maurice Marshall paced the Rangers with 14. On the other half of the AAA bracket, second-ranked Rush-Henrietta rolled over number seven Brockport 89-53. Dane Miller posted a triple double with 15 points, 10 boards and 10 assists along with a thunderous one-handed dunk to finish a second quarter alley-oop. Dezerick Brooks added 18 points. The Royals Comets get the third seed, Gates-Chili, in the semis. The Spartans got past sixth-seeded Penfield 53-38 in a game played at Spencerport. Chad Dillard led Gates with 22 points and nine rebounds. The Class AA quarters all went according to the chalk. Number one East cruised past McQuaid 97-65. Bobby Bell scored 24 and Jerrold Brooks had 21. Second seeded Greece Athena struggled by finally put away number seven Irondequoit. Brian Benson led the Trojans with 19 points. Eric Miles scored 21 to pace three-seed Wilson past sixth ranked Olympia 68-60. Kyle Patton put up 23 points in a losing effort. Finally, Canandaigua won the four-five game against Webster Thomas 55-50. Conor Henderson was the statistical star with 25 points and ten rebounds. On the girls side, Marion carried a perfect record into their Class CCC semifinal with Avon, but could not stay perfect. Marcy Manning scored 13 points and pulled down 14 boards leading the Braves to a 54-35 upset. Fifth-seeded Avon will play Honeoye in the finals after the Bulldogs knocked out Oakfield-Alabama 39-29.
