BUFFALO, N.Y. -Thomas Vanek scored three consecutive goals, including the winner 2:35 into overtime, to rally the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night.
Derek Roy had a goal and assist while Tim Connolly had three assists as the Sabres came back from a 3-1 third-period deficit. After scoring two goals 36 seconds apart, tying the score at 3 with 1:45 remaining, Vanek sealed the victory on the power play, after Dan Boyle was penalized for hooking.
Jason Pominville started the play from the left point, by feeding Jaroslav Spacek in the right circle. Spacek then immediately sent a pass through the crease to Vanek, who stuffed it inside the left post.
The Sabres snapped a two-game losing streak and moved into a three-way tie with Boston and Philadelphia for seventh in the Eastern Conference.
Brad Richards, Vaclav Prospal and Chris Gratton scored for the Lightning.
