The recall dates back to 2006. Meat-industry officials say there is no way to know if the ill cows actually entered the meat supply. There have been no illnesses reported with any of the meat which has been consumed however, officials do say ailing livestock would have had to pass a gauntlet of USDA veterinarians and inspectors before being sent to market.
