Paetec makes $1.6 billion dollar merger

PAETEC_LOGO2008-02-09-1202615582.jpgPaetec will soon become a household name in more cities than Rochester. The telecommunications giant has just closed on a deal that will put Paetec in 82 of the country's top 100 communications markets by the end of this year.


Paetec announced late Friday night a deal to acquire privately owned McLeod USA Incorporated. The deal was finalized after stockholders of both companies approved the transaction. McLeod provides IP-based services for businesses.  Paetec projects the combined company revenues will generate annual revenues of at least $1.6 billion dollars. Paetec now has nearly 4,000 employees.
