backusyard12008-01-30-1201726375.jpgWednesday’s wild winds brought with it more damage to the city of Rochester and surrounding areas.

For the second time this month, power lines were downed across the region and local schools were closed. Currently, Rochester Gas and Electric is reporting 5,700 customers are without power.  Thos outages are located primarily to the west of the city of Rochester, but RG&E spokesman Dick Marion is also reporting blackouts in the city itself and to the east.

On Avery Street, Rochester, a tree landed on a house roof and left branches everywhere. Aldo Guadalupe can't believe his neighbor's house is damaged because of the wind.  "I heard crackling and breaking.  At around 6:30, 6:20 the whole thing came down."

Rochester Police blocked off Dewey Avenue from Lyell Avenue to Costar Street because debris flying off the Tent City building. In Webster, Cole Muffler store employees got a surprise.

"We're working away and all the sudden it sounded like a plane landed on the roof.  We come outside and there's our roof laying in the backyard," said Joe Church, a Cole Muffler manager. But it'll be business as usual, "We're blowing the roof off the prices," joked Church.
