A desperate plea from Greece family tonight after their son was bitten by a dog. The boy is doing ok, but if the family can't find the dog and its owner he will have to go through painful rabies treatment as a precaution. The canton family was at the Petco store on Ridge Road in Greece yesterday afternoon. Kathleen and Kevin Canton were with their two children, 7 year old Kevin and 5 year old Korey. The two boys were petting another customer's rottweiler when it bit Kevin in the face leaving him with 3 stitches.
Petco staff took an incident report, but failed to get any contact information about the owner of the rottweiler. Now the family says their priority is to find this woman so they can get the dog's vaccination history in hopes their son will avoid the painful rabies treatment.
"We've been running around all day trying to call Animal Control and trying to find leads to find who this person is and we've been unsuccessful so far and that's why we are trying to talk to you to find out who they are,” said Kevin Canton.
If you have any information you're asked to call Greece animal control at 581-4025.
A spokesperson for Petco said the staff made an error by not getting the contact information of the dog owner. Petco believes the woman with the rottweiler is a regular customer and it's doing all it can to locate the dog's owner. The family thinks the dog's name is Zeus or Seus. Again if you have any information contact Greece animal control. They have just a week before young Kevin will have to undergo rabies treatment.
