(GATES) - George DeKramer has a big mess on his hands. Wednesday's strong winds knocked a big tree on his garage roof.“From the moment we moved in here my wife wanted to get rid of this tree. We never came up with the resources to do it immediately,” said DeKramer.
George was one of the many who called Terry's Tree Service for help. The tree experts are trying to get to every house as soon as possible.
“We try to prioritize everything mainly get the houses off first so the ones that have hole son them get tarped before the rain comes,” said Tim Plowe, a manager at Terry’s Tree Service.
Terry's recommends people with trees in their yard get assessments often. “Mainly just keeping a regular trimming program where you’re lightening the tree up and taking the wind sail out of it so the wind doesn’t catch it quite as much.”
As for George DeKramer he knows it could have been worse. If the tree fell 20 feet further it would have landed in the living room where his wife was sleeping.
“We had a disaster here but we got a lot of blessings that we can count.”
