The Rochester Amerks ended their losing streak tonight by beating the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-1.
Marek Zagrapan scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season, one at the 12:13 mark in the first period, and the other, a powerplay goal at 6:32 in the second period. He also added an assist and finshed with three points to lead the Amerks. Marc-Andre Gragnani scored the first go ahead goal with one minute left in the first period. The shorthanded goal was his third of the year. Peter Aston added a breakaway goal late in the second period. Andrej Sekera also added two assists for the Amerks.
Tyler Plante grabbed his first win of the season, stopping 33 of 34 shots.
Greg Stewart scored his fifth goal of the season as he converted on a one-timer and put the defending Calder Cup Champs on the board first at 6:26 in the first period.
The Amerks and Bulldogs were a combined 1 for 15 in powerplay chances. The Amerks converted during the powerplay in the second period with Zagrapans 12th goal of the season.
The win gives the Amerks an 11-20-1-2 record and pushes them up to 6th place in the North Division. The Bulldogs fall to 10-13-1-5, but still remain ahead of Rochester by one point in the Division.
