charlottestprojeft2007-12-17-1197931723.jpgMayor Duffy is asking the city council to approve the sale of some land so that a downtown housing project --now three years in the works -- can finally move toward construction.

The units to be built on

Charlotte Street
will be adjacent to some existing housing, and hopefully provide an extension of some already successful efforts, which have lead to a mini housing boom in the East End.

The acre of vacant land, upon which some industrial buildings once stood, will give rise to "

Charlotte Place
". The developer buying the land --for a quarter million dollars -- will start by building 40 condos. They'll also have an option to buy an additional parcel for more housing if things work out.
