All the snow outside on Thursday made for some empty chairs inside the New Images Hair Salon in Dansville. Quite a few of the customers come from a distance away, and they cancelled because of the weather. But just 12 days before Christmas, the wintry blast also made for easy, last minute appointments. "Not many people miss for hair and nails!" says owner Christine Beach. "It's top on the priority list!" In fact, business owners say when the weather gets bad, it keeps residents in town, therefore they're shopping locally. Randy Demuth owns the Dogwood Trading Company on Main Street. "They're not driving to Rochester to shop," he says. "They have to shop locally when the weather's like this, usually 390's a mess." Other businesses, like Tony's Pizza Shop, planned to stay open for a long winter's night.
