Two injured after serious crash in Orleans County

Mercy flight responded to transport two men to the hospital after a police chase ended with a crash late Thursday night near the Niagara-Orleans county line. The crash happened just before 10:30 last night on route 31E . The Orleans County Sheriffs Department says Middleport Police started chasing after a speeding car, then lost track of the vehicle, just 1 mile away from where it crashed. Investigators say the driver failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road, flipped and struck a tree. 32-year-old Fred Patterson of Holley was driving the vehicle, at last check he was in the emergency room at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Authorities say he is facing DWI and unsafe speed charges. His passenger, 44-year-old Marshall Harrold, of Lyndonville is in the Intensive Care Unit at ECMC.
