Prices are up slightly due to the rising cost of operations, but that didn't stop a stampede of people from continuing their holiday tradition of selecting and cutting their own Christmas Tree at Stokoe Farms just south of Scottsville. The Stokoe family has farmed the rolling hills of the region for 195 years, but it wasn't until just 20 years ago that they began focusing on Christmas Trees.
Now they are seeing a second generation of tree buyers come for the experience.
"I've noticed men and women who came with their fathers and mothers bringing their own young children now," said Suzanne Stokoe.
Attendance on the first day of business got a big boost from a well known visitor..... as hundreds looked skyward with delight to see Santa Claus jump from an airplane, and parachute down to the farm.
