One of the Webster Thomas Chorale's biggest boosters is also one of its best performers: senior Kyle Sackett. He says of the three years he's participated in Chorale, this year's group is the best yet. This student is a true leader, and a teacher's dream. Last year, he won a Stars of Tomorrow Award from the Rochester Broadway Theater League, and he was singled out for outstanding achievement from the Eastman School of Music. He sings, dances and acts, and has had enough lessons to know someday he wants to teach.
"I'm going to try and combine the two," Kyle says. "I'm not really sure how I'm going to do that yet so, hopefully I'll have a long running career on Broadway and then I'll retire and become a music teacher like Mrs. Nitsch. That's my goal right now!"
Webster Thomas Vocal Music Teacher Brenda Nitsch says, "I hope that Kyle loves what he does forever. And then when they go on and want do what you do for a living? That's even more special, so you just really invest in that and hope you are giving him the right stuff and they're successful."
Kyle's first audition for college is in February, but he's already hard at work practicing. He's a natural talent, who someday could well end up conducting the kind of choirs he sings in today!
