New Army National Guard center opens

The New York Army National Guard is hoping it will find plenty of new recruits from
Army Guard soldiers not only serve the state in times of emergency, they also play a vital role in the wars in
"We give everybody the truth. They may be deployed with one of the units that they join so we don't try and candy coat it, we give them the honest truth. We tell them that you may go, you may not, it all depends on what unit. They take the National Guard on a per job, per unit basis, so if your unit's going, you're going to go with them," says Sgt. Byron Barnes of the Army National Guard.
The New York Army National Guard currently has 9,600 members. It wants to increase that number to 10,300 by next September.
