Not even Carmelo Anthony had this kind of debut. Jonny Flynn scored 28 points on 10 of 12 shooting and six threes leading Syracuse to a 97-89 win over Siena at the Carrier Dome Monday night in the opening round of the NIT Tip Off Classic. Flynns points were the most ever by a freshman in his first game with SU, eclipsing Anthonys mark of 27. Eric Devendorf scored 19 points, 16 in the first half while Donte Green and Paul Harris each chipped in 14. Siena was led by Kenny Hasbrouck with 24 points. The Saints trailed by 14 at halftime, but twice in the second half pulled within four, including once in the final four minutes, but the Orange scored 14 of the last 20 to pull away. Fairport grad Cory McGee played 17 minutes for Siena with a rebound and an assist.
