More toll hikes look to be coming down the road for drivers on the New York State Thruway. A 10% increase in thruway tolls is already set to begin in January, but Thruway authority officials on Thursday proposed to add another ten-percent increase over the next two years. Thruway officials claim the increases are needed to pay for $2.1 billion in capital improvements on the toll road. If approved, the 279-mile drive from Buffalo to Albany will cost Thruway drivers nearly $13.00 in 2010, a two-year increase of over $2.00.
