A rural Ontario County neighborhood is rocked by a violent crime. "It scared me, bullets flying around over there,” said Richard Davenport. Davenport lives right across from the Vincent Hill Road home in Bristol where police say a murder suicide left a couple dead.
"I knew they fought every once in a while but I didn't think that amounted to much,” said Davenport.
Inside the home 45 year old Michael Curtis and his estranged wife, 36 year old Sandra were found shot to death. Police say Sandra had been living apart from her husband in Farmington, but they are not releasing any more details surrounding their deaths.
"They never bothered nobody, kept to themselves, they never associated much with the neighbors,” said Davenport.
Sandra was a counselor at the possibilities center at Canandaigua Academy. There she worked one on one with 10-15 students who faced challenges with everyday school life.
"It was her job to get into a deep rich kind of relationship with these kids so she could understand all their needs and respond to them,” said Andy Thomas, spokesperson for Canandaigua schools.
Thomas says Curtis got her start student teaching in the district and worked in Hilton prior to coming back for a full time position in 2006.
"She was the right person for the job, it's a terrible loss for us, of course a horrendous loss for her family, but from a professional standpoint and for these kids a terrible loss."
