driverslicense2007-11-02-1194014099.jpgState Assembly Republicans have filed a lawsuit to block Governor Spitzer's plans to issue licenses to illegal immigrants.

The suit -- filed Thursday in Albany -- alleges that both the Governor and the DMV office have overstepped the bounds of their offices by not taking the plan to the Legislature first. In all, 32 Assembly Republicans have signed on to the suit.

The Governor, meanwhile, maintains that giving licenses to illegals will help law enforcement to keep better tabs on them.
