Local children get treats early

The United Way in Rochester celebrated Halloween a little early Wednesday.

"Each year we have a great tradition," said Nancy Zawacki, a United Way employee. "We have kids from the YMCA pre-school programs come in and trick or treat."

The pre-schoolers went door to door, spooking employees and filling up on treats all morning. For many of the young trick-or-treaters, the is the only chance they'll get.

"We are in the southwest YMCA, and it's not a good neighborhood," said Carolyn Monsees, a pre-school teacher. "We can't actually take the kids out trick or treating there. We're in a very small building, and we have no where to go."

United Way employees say this not only gives the kids a place to go, it gives them a chance to show off their costumes, and a chance for the office to get in the Halloween spirit.

"We've decorated our offices, and everyone's dressed to the nine's in their Halloween costumes," Zawacki said. "It's a great day!"
